Building approvals surge, mostly in NSW

Lomas to head Property Investment Association

Prominent property investor and author Margaret Lomas has been elected the new chair of the Property Investment Association of Australia.

The PIAA was created three years ago to set standards, accreditation and training for property investment advisers and property professionals. It is expected to assume a more prominent role as the new Federal Government looks more closely at the issues of property advice, regulation and accreditation.

“There is no doubt in my mind that regulation is coming,” says Lomas, the founder of Destiny Financial Solutions. “Proactive organisations in the property investment industry will be looking for a united industry association for guidance.”

The PIAA, in conjunction with DeakinPrime, has recently released an accreditation program which aims to increase the quality of advice provided to the property investing community.
